National Children’s Dental Health Month

"Hey Doc, why did my child come home from kindergarten with a packet of dental information? Is this a new curriculum?"

Well, not exactly. The American Dental Association has for many years declared February as National Children’s Dental Health Month. This is a time when dental professionals can highlight the importance of health in our children.

Nationwide, dental professionals engage in educating and treating our children. Our office alone spoke to over 1,000 school students, ranging from 2 to 3 year olds in daycares to first graders. This happened at all of the area schools and daycares, as well as in our own office as field trips for the kids. I know that it also happens all over the country, and serves a very important part in keeping Americans educated about dental health.

I personally want to thank each of my staff for their commitment to this educational process over the last month. Heather, Stephanie, Kris, Carrie, Sue, Kathleen, Kim and Derry…well done!

Moms and dads, we hope that you continue the education and health process for your children. Know that organized dentistry is here for you to call upon.
