Craig Dally Reminds Motorists to Call Pothole Hotline

Representative Craig Dally urges motorists to report potholes and other roadway concerns on state roads by calling the Department of Transportation’s toll-free maintenance hotline at 1-800-FIX-ROAD (1-800-349-7623). The hotline is staffed around the clock, seven days a week during the winter season. If phone lines are busy, calls are recorded by a voicemail system. Calls are automatically forwarded to the appropriate county maintenance office.

Callers are asked to be as specific as possible in describing the location of a roadway concern. Helpful information includes the county, municipality, street name, and state route number, which can be found on small black and white signs posted along state highways. Callers should also provide a description of any familiar landmarks that would help PennDOT find the problem area.

Motorists can use the hotline number for any reason including: deer removal; brush and tree removal; shoulder and drainage concerns; signage issues; other maintenance needs; or information, complaints and compliments. The 1-800-FIX-ROAD number should not be used to report traffic accidents, disabled vehicles or other emergencies. Motorists should continue to call 911 to report these types of emergencies.
